Metal profiles have become a universal material in agriculture. PK-20, NS-35, H-44 or H-57 profiles are used for roofing piggeries – they withstand wind and snow loads well. The walls are most often constructed from C-8, C-10 or NS-20 profiled sheets, which give the structure rigidity and resistance to mechanical stress.
Corrosion protection is particularly important. Since the humidity and ammonia content in the air in piggeries is quite high, the metal must have a reliable coating. A galvanisation standard of 225 g/m² is considered optimal – it extends the service life of structures and protects them even in difficult operating conditions. It is also standard practice to use modern types of coatings such as aluzinc, zinc-aluminium-magnesium, PVDF, HPS 200 and others.
One of the main tasks in pig farming is maintaining a stable temperature and controlling humidity. Sandwich panels, which combine metal cladding and insulation, are used for this purpose. They retain heat in winter, prevent overheating in summer and help reduce heating and ventilation costs. These panels are easy to install, and their smooth surface makes them easy to clean and disinfect, which meets veterinary requirements. These products are also manufactured using special coatings that are resistant to vapours, aggressive environments, humidity and chemical cleaning, which ensures safety and guarantees long-term service life.
Advantages of building pigsties from these materials
Piggeries made of profiled sheet metal and sandwich panels are an example of a modern solution for the agricultural business. These structures combine technological efficiency, durability and compliance with veterinary standards. They help farmers to provide proper conditions for keeping pigs, optimise production processes and make pig farming more profitable and competitive.
